For the first time in Taylor High School football history, the Mustangs have advanced to the quarterfinals of the UIL Football State Championships. The Mustangs face Cypress Creek in a neutral playoff game today at 2 p.m. at NRG Stadium in Houston.

A 14-year-old Katy boy fired shots at his home in the Williamsburg Hamlet subdivision Saturday evening, hitting his sister and killing her boyfriend. The boy is in custody but any charges are unknown at this time.

A 17-year-old male was found shot and killed in a car off Katy Fort Bend Road overnight. Two other boys and a girl were also in the vehicle. Authorities believe the shooting occurred elsewhere.

The Festival of Trees returns to Katy's Cane Island November 29-30. Every cent raised from the event goes to support the Ballard House, a Katy nonprofit organization.  The two-day festival needs volunteers and members of the Katy community are urged to help behind the scenes.
