For the first time in Taylor High School football history, the Mustangs have advanced to the quarterfinals of the UIL Football State Championships. The Mustangs face Cypress Creek in a neutral playoff game today at 2 p.m. at NRG Stadium in Houston.

A 14-year-old Katy boy fired shots at his home in the Williamsburg Hamlet subdivision Saturday evening, hitting his sister and killing her boyfriend. The boy is in custody but any charges are unknown at this time.

Several Katy ISD students have been selected to perform with the Houston Ballet's and the Houston Repertoire Ballet's productions of The Nutcracker.

Forty years ago, James E. Taylor High School, Katy's second high school, opened its doors to accommodate the growing district. As we give thanks this month, remember one of the town's schools that has shaped the minds of many Katy residents and continues to inspire students today.

A 17-year-old male was found shot and killed in a car off Katy Fort Bend Road overnight. Two other boys and a girl were also in the vehicle. Authorities believe the shooting occurred elsewhere.

Natalie Gendron, a seventh-grade cheerleader from Memorial Parkway Junior High in Katy, has been invited to participate in a one-of-a-kind pre-parade performance through Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park on Thanksgiving Day.

The Festival of Trees returns to Katy's Cane Island November 29-30. Every cent raised from the event goes to support the Ballard House, a Katy nonprofit organization.  The two-day festival needs volunteers and members of the Katy community are urged to help behind the scenes.
