17-Year-Old Katy ISD Student Dies from Stab Wounds Sustained in Katy Park Fight

A Katy ISD junior from Paetow High School died from stab wounds Sunday night that were inflicted during the Katy Park fight last week. Up to three individuals have been charged and authorities say that the charge of the student associated with the fight has been upgraded to murder.



17-Year-Old Dies From Fight Injuries

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced that 17-year-old Marlon Robinson, one of the Katy ISD students life flighted after a fight at a local park broke out after school on February 14, passed away Sunday night.



Deputies with Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 5 responded to reports of a fight on Monday, February 14, 2022. According to authorities the fight was initiated after school at Katy ISD’s Paetow High School and then ended at Beckendorff Park (1800 block of Katyland Drive.)


At the time, deputies reported up to 18 individuals involved and at least one knife and baseball bats were found at the scene.


Katy ISD Increases Security, Confirms Some were District Students

Katy ISD has confirmed that some students were currently enrolled in the District but has not confirmed how many and if all attended Paetow High School. They announced last Thursday that they would increase security around the area while the investigation was ongoing.


8 students were injured in the fight, including Robinson, who died from what is being reported as four stab wounds. Another student was also life flighted with life-threatening injuries but has since then been reported in stable condition. Two other students were taken to local hospitals by ambulance after the fight.


According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, who is now handling the investigation, two minors and one adult have been charged with one of the minors having a murder charge. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges could still be filed.


Katy ISD has released the following statement:


The District has been informed that one of the youth involved in the heinous and senseless act of violence that took place at Beckendorff Family Park on February 14 has tragically lost his life due to the incident. District personnel’s thoughts are with the family, individuals and community impacted. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the lead investigating agency on the case, has apprised that three individuals have been charged and one individual has been arrested for their involvement in the altercation that took place at the park.


According to Hudl.com, a site that shares high school athlete stats, Marlon Robinson played football for Paetow High School and was an offensive line backer on the varsity team. Katy ISD has not confirmed if he was a current member of the football team or has ever played for the high school.
