Katy ISD Board of Trustees Approve Instructional Calendar & Start Time Changes

On Monday night, February 26, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees met for their regular board meeting. In addition to many other agenda items, the board voted on the 2018/19 Instructional Calendar Survey and the 2018/19 start and end time changes for the school day.

On Monday, February 19, the Katy ISD Administration recommended the school year of 2018/19 calendar start August 15 going through May 23 with a week off at Thanksgiving.

On Monday, February 26, by an unanimous vote, the board went with the recommendations and adopted this calendar for the 2018/19 school year.

After reviewing the results of the Transportation Sustainability Survey, the Katy ISD Administration recommended that the District maintain current ridership and move to a multi-bell schedule for the 2018-2019 school year as follows.

High School - 7:25 am to 2:35 pm

Elementary Group 1 - 8:00 am to 3:20 pm

Elementary Group 2 - 8:20 am to 3:40 pm

Junior High - 8:45 am to 3:55 pm

One dissenting vote

The Katy ISD school board, again, went with the administration's recommendations. The vote was not unanimous as Rebecca Fox was the one dissenting vote
