You don’t have to break the bank to have fun in Katy, Texas. Here are 21 of our favorite activities that don't cost a single dime.

1. Cinema Under the Stars LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and head to the courtyard for a free, family friendly movie provided by LaCenterra and Alamo Drafthouse. Click here for movie calendar.

 

2. Live Music Central Green LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. Enjoy live music from talented local artists sponsored by Willow Fork Drainage District on weekend nights.

 

3. Air Patrol 18000 Groschke Rd., Houston Kids 12 and up and adults are invited to help serve the community through Civil Air Patrol. The group meets in the first aircraft hangar on the east side of the field at West Houston Airport. To learn more, call Second Lt. Audrey Morrow at at 713-515-4136.

 

Stop by and tour the Cane Island Amenity Village, and meet Hub, the Cane Island Golden Retriever and Pet Ambassador! He's well-trained, friendly, and loves to play catch while he shows you around.

 

 

6. Mommy Book Club Katy Budget Books

2450 Fry Rd. Bring the kiddos and spend time discussing popular books every Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m.

 

7. Run for Wellness 5K George Bush Park - FFPS Soccer Fields 16756 Westheimer Pkwy. Runners of all experience levels are invited to participate in the free runs hosted once a month.

Tour historic Katy homestead houses that once belonged to legacy families. Restored historic homes are open for free public tours the first full weekend of each month, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

5615 First St. The historic home of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad in Katy is now a pocket park and tourist information center. Don't forget to take a classic "Katy" photo on the MKT red caboose.

On select weekend nights, Willow Fork Drainage District provides a free, family friendly movie on the astro-turf inside LaCenterra. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket.

 

11. Pie Bingo 3522 S. Mason Rd. Every Tuesday at 7 p.m., pie-lovers can play to win a spin on the pie wheel. There are eight games of BINGO with a break after the fourth game.

Katy Prairie Conservancy

Uncover the natural beauty of Katy's well-protected prairie lands and see native wildlife on kid-friendly, guided activities, night hikes, and conservation projects.

Tucked away in the heart of Cinco Ranch, this park provided by Willow Fork Drainage district offers kids a sensory garden, multiple varieties of swings, a slide tower and bridge connecting to a hill slide, a musical bridge, and a raindrop berm lawn in which the earthwork evokes the notion of a giant raindrop ripple in the lawn.

 

16.Toddler Time Katy Branch Library

5414 Franz Rd.

Stories, songs, fingerplays and occasional crafts every Tuesday from 10:15 – 11 a.m.

 

17. Katy Play Station 5611 Gardenia Ln.

This train-themed park was designed for children with disabilities at heart, but is open to all.

 

Mondays with Mommy, Presented by Texas Children's Hospital - West Campus is a fun educational program for parents and their young ones to get your child's brain and limbs moving. Check their website for dates.

 

19. Watch a Race at Katy BMX 4603 Schlipf Rd. Every Friday and Sunday, go and watch extreme bikers of all ages race around the dirt track at top speed.

Harris County residents and those who reside in City of Katy Limits can enjoy free Zumba, aerobics, and Pilates classes.

 

21. Wednesday Wonders Maud Smith Marks Library 1815 Westgreen Blvd.

School-age children 6 - 11 are invited to let their imaginations soar and explore the world.
