Tompkins Grads Wanted a Different College Experience

In 2019, Alicia Nossaman and Daniel Bond graduated from Katy’s Tompkins High School. Although they both planned to attend college, they wished for a different experience.

Different Colleges, One Home

After graduation, Daniel moved into a dorm at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Alicia lived with her parents in Katy while attending Houston Community College.

Last spring, when the pandemic struck, the teens bought a 2008 Wildcat RV by Forest River.

“We knew that we didn’t want to be separate for another year and an RV aligned with our current situation and our future goals,” says Alicia Nossaman.

The couple was inspired by HGTV’s “Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines” to renovate their home on wheels.

“I admired their passion for creating beautiful spaces as a couple and having fun together along the way,” says Alicia.

Alicia and Daniel started a YouTube Channel to share their work and inspire others.

“It was such a creative outlet for me,” says Alicia who enjoys letting her imagination run wild.

“My favorite part was converting the RV from old to new and the blast we had doing it together,” says Daniel Bond. “We grew so much in our relationship and really had the best time together.”

They converted their TV space into a coffee bar and painted their bottom cabinets blue. Alicia describes their style as BoHo farmhouse with a small-town coffee house atmosphere.

“We’ve learned that an RV is very different from a house, so planning makes all the difference. Our best advice is to just go for it,” advises Alicia.

Daniel is pursuing a business management degree at Sam Houston State University and is a sales representative for a solar company. Alicia is taking classes at Houston Community College and plans to be a traveling pediatric nurse. They both have future goals in real estate and of course, want to travel.

“We loved the idea of being financially free in college,” says Alicia Nossaman. “We felt that going to college and getting in loads of debt didn’t have to be our story.”

Daniel proposed to Alicia on a trip to Colorado in July. They plan to get married this spring.

“We are passionate about not conforming to the patterns of the world but being transformed by the renewing of our minds,” says Alicia. “That is found in Romans 12:2 and is so important to us.”
