A Katy man is out on bond and awaiting trial for being accused of hiding cameras in a Bear Creek woman's home where he videotaped her and her preschool-aged daughter.

Katy Man Charged on Three Counts

Deputies with Constable Ted Heap’s Office charged Gregory Gene Walker, a 64-year-old Katy man, with two counts of invasive visual recording and one count of possession of lewd visual material of a child. The charges came after an investigation into hidden cameras found in the victim's Bear Creek home.

Victims are a Mother and her Preschool Daughter

The victims are a 28-year-old mother and her 4-year-old daughter. The mother called Precinct 5 after discovering hidden cameras in several rooms of their home at the 15800 block of Sandy Hill Drive. After a detailed investigation of the Bear Creek home, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Walker, who is described as a family friend to the victims.

Suspect Had Key to the House

The mother told authorities that she went out of town from June 13 to June 19 and the only other person with a key to her apartment, besides her roommate and her mother, was Walker, a family friend.

Three Hidden Cameras Found in Home

According to investigators, three cameras were found concealed in the ceiling of the house and a fourth was found hidden in a smoke detector.

Walker admitted to purchasing and installing the cameras but insisted he did it to ensure the well-being of the child.

'A Disturbing Case'

“This is a disturbing case made even worse by a preschooler being one of the victims,” says Constable Ted Heap. “I’m just relieved that our deputies were able to get to the bottom of this, identifying the suspect and getting an arrest warrant for him.”

Suspect Out on Bond, Awaiting Trial

Walker turned himself in shortly after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is currently out on bond while awaiting trial.
