Katy ISD students in eleventh and twelfth grade who are interested in pursuing careers in fields like cosmetology, the arts, construction, or health sciences can submit an application to Miller Career & Technology Center until Friday, February 9. Applications can be picked up in high school counselor's offices.
How it works
Students approved to attend MCTC should expect to attend the school for a full school year. Two credit courses are paired with a core credit course, with availability of the courses depending on the demand and number of students requesting the course.
Morning and afternoon sessions
The morning session begins at 7:20 a.m., and students without transportation can be picked up by a Katy ISD school bus that has a specific route for MCTC, OAC, and Raines High School students. At the end of the morning session, students will be dropped off at their home high school campus.
For MCTC students who attend the afternoon session beginning during 4th period or later, the school bus can transport them from their home campus to the school, and to specific drop off points when the day is over. Afternoon session students will not be returned to their home campus.
For students taking internship courses, independent transportation may be required.
If the number of applicants for a program exceeds the maximum allowed, students may be accepted based on GPA, prerequisites completed, absences, etc. Some courses may have fees, and details will be discussed at the orientation in May 2018.
