Katy Magazine's editors have found some awesome, free activities for residents of all ages. From Frisbee golf to crime solving, and LEGO-building to book clubs, you don't have to look far for fun. Just check out our list!

Tuesdays at 9:00 am

Tai Chi in the Park

Willowfork Drainage District and Tai Chi instructor Trina Maxwell invite all skill levels out to practice the ancient Chinese Martial Art that centers the person body, mind, and spirit.Trina's class promotes overall health and well-being.

Saturdays at 7:45 pm

Live Music

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a free live music performance from talented local bands, presented by Willowfork Drainage District.

Walk to End Alzheimers

In addition to the Walk, participants will enjoy an opening ceremony with the National Anthem, music, an entertaining warm-up and a special tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s.

 

Family Night

Chick-fil-A Cinco Ranch

Chick-fil-A Katy Green www.cfakaty.com These locations host family night twice a week each month with fun themes like pirates, indoor camping, and painting. Check the calendar online for schedule details. Pre-School Playhouse Chick-fil-A Cinco Ranch

Chick-fil-A Mason Road These locations offer activities for toddlers throughout the month, each event with a different theme. Check their calendar online for the schedule.

 

OLD KATY LANDMARKS/EVENTS Katy Heritage Society 5990 George Bush Dr. Take a walk down memory lane through the preservation of antique Katy landmarks. The historic homes in Katy Heritage Park are free to visit the first weekend of every month. Also checkout the famous MKT caboose in Old Katy and be on the look out for the painted trains placed throughout the town!

Katy Veterans Memorial Museum 6202 George Bush Dr. This is a first-class military exhibit encompassing every foreign conflict involving the U.S. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and admission is free.

 

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Not only do Home Depot stores offer free workshops for kids, they also have some free workshops for the grown-ups. Visit the Do-It-Yourself Workshops calendar and you'll see a list of workshops available throughout the week.

Get into the fall spirit with Michael's! Every other Saturday Michael's will be hosting Make Breaks. Create a fall wreath for your door or a not-so-spooky Halloween decoration. Check Michael's website for official dates and times.

 

SPORTS AND FITNESS

The Katy Library and the No Label Brewery invite you to join a monthly book club held at the brewery. The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month. The book selection can also be picked up at the Katy Library.

Storytimes for All Ages

*Days vary for different ages

Move around, sing, and read stories at a storytime designed just for your child's age. The Katy Library hosts storytimes for babies (non-walking) on Mondays, toddlers (up to age 3) on Tuesdays, and preschoolers (ages 3-6) on Thursdays.

Wednesday Wonders

Come to the library and let imaginations soar as you explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) with crafts and activities. These programs, for ages 6-11, typically last about one hour. All necessary materials are provided. This is a ticketed program. Tickets will be available at 4:00 pm.
