The children's area in Katy Mills has been transformed into a Disney oasis for children and parents.
Located in Neighborhood 8 across from Tilt Studio and beside AMC, The Disney Junior Play Zone opened on Friday, August 10, just in time to relieve parents and entertain children during back-to-school tax-free shopping.
This unique family destination features an interactive play space, inviting children to experience their favorite Disney Junior shows in a fun, open-concept floor plan. The Disney Junior Play Zone at Katy Mills also includes physical and digital activities themed to hit series such as “Vampirina,” “Muppet Babies,” “Puppy Dog Pals,” “Mickey and the Roadster Racers” and Disney Junior’s newest addition, “Fancy Nancy.”
“The Disney Junior Play Zone at Katy Mills is evidence of our continued commitment to remaining a dynamic, family-friendly destination in the community,” said Sabrina Scruta, director of marketing and business development at Katy Mills.
The Disney Junior Play Zone has activities appropriate for toddlers and children up to 10 years old. The area also incorporates elements to enhance the parent/caregiver experience, including mobile device charging stations, comfortable lounge seating and exterior counter seating and an open concept floor plan, which allows strollers to stay by the caregivers’ side while watching or participating in play.
One step into Katy Mills and the shopper quickly sees the transformation taking place. The children's area remodel is part of the bigger multi-million dollar remodel project that began in March of 2018.
The interior renovations to help the 1.5 million-square-foot mall appear more modern will include:
Updating and redesigning the food court into a "dining pavilion" with family-style seating.
Repainting with neutral colors, such as gray.
Installing porcelain tile flooring.
Adding new lighting fixtures with LED lighting along with floating ceilings to replace the warehouse appearance.
Upgrading the children's play area.
Better signage within the mall.
Adding lounge areas with plush seating
Next year, an outside renovation will begin followed by sign updating. All improvements will be complete within two years.
