Katy ISD varsity football has had a great playoff season with four teams entering the playoff in 6A Division 1 and 6A Division 2. During the Bi-District playoffs, Katy, Taylor and Tompkins won their matches and advanced to the Area playoffs (Seven Lakes lost the Bi-District game).

Last weekend during the Area playoffs, Katy and Tompkins won their games and have advanced to the Regional Semi-Final playoffs at NRG. Check out below for game highlights and information for this weekend's games.

Katy High School

The Katy Tigers played Jersey Village on Friday, November 23 at Legacy Stadium for the 6A Division 1 Area championship title. At no moment during the game was Katy in jeopardy of losing. The Tigers took control early scoring 28 points in the first quarter and remained in control throughout ending in a final score of 58-14.

Katy will meet North Shore on Friday, November 30 at 7:00 pm at NRG Stadium. The game is a redemption match for both teams. Katy beat North Shore last year in the Regional playoffs ending their state championship dreams. The only game that the Tigers have lost in the 2018 season was the first game to North Shore. Katy is currently ranked #8 in the state and North Shore is #1. The Tigers have their eye on the prize and are determined to bring a state championship back home to Katy.

Tompkins High School

The Tompkins Falcons took on Cypress Falls on Saturday, November 24 for the 6A Division 2 Area championship title. The game was a nail biter for both teams with many turnovers but the Tompkins defense was on-fire preventing Cypress Falls from scoring during the second half. Tompkins had a total of five interceptions in the game...many times preventing Cy-Falls from scoring. The Falcons are by far the biggest surprise in the playoffs entering their debut game in the 2018 season with a 13-game losing streak.

Tompkins (#109 in Texas) plays West Brook (#33 in Texas) for the Regional Semi-Final title on Saturday, December 1 at 6:00 pm at NRG Stadium. Both teams are 10-2 for the 2018 season. Don't assume, based on state ranking, that the Tompkins Falcons won't bring home this title. Time and time again this season, the Falcons have proven that they are the team to watch and have moved from underdog this season to winner game after game.

Check out the Tompkins Football Facebook page for updates on ticket sales, parking at NRG, team send off and much more.

Taylor High School

The Taylor Mustangs took on Cypress Creek on Friday, November 23 at Legacy Stadium for the 6A Division 2 Area championship title. In the first matchup between the two teams since 1993, the Mustangs fought hard the entire game, but Cypress Creek dominated with a final score of 24-14. Taylor had a great season that made the Katy community proud.

For those not able to attend the playoff games this weekend, Texan Live will show the games live online. For the Tompkins playoff game, click here. To watch the Katy game, click here. Individual games are $6.95.

If Tompkins and Katy advance to the state playoffs, they will not play each other as they are in different brackets (6A Division 1 and 6A Division 2). Both teams would play at AT&T stadium in Arlington on Saturday, December 22 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Katy ISD could potentially bring home two state championship titles this year in varsity football.
