Man jumps in Katy mom's car and takes her purse with child in backseat

Another frightening incident occurred in the Target parking lot at S. Fry and I-10 in Katy at approximately 4:30 PM today. Codi Huff, 35, got in her car with her 10-year-old son after leaving the store. A man jumped in the passenger side of her car as soon as she started the engine. "I yelled 'NO I HAVE A KID' because I thought maybe he was carjacking me," says Huff. "But he reached over and grabbed my purse out of my lap and hopped out into a car that had pulled up.

The car is described as a white sedan and the suspect is described a middle aged African American male wearing a black hoodie pulled up over his head.

"I was just really shocked that in a crowded parking lot in broad daylight this could happen," says Huff. "I try to be aware of my surroundings but got into typical 'busy mom' mode and was caught off guard. It was so scary to think it could have easily been one of my children and not just my purse." Huff is warning other women to be aware of their surroundings at all times and not to get complacent.

Huff called the police and notified Target. Target gave the parking lot surveillance video to the Harris County Sheriff's who are investigating the incident.
