No modifications on school day tomorrow but individual campuses may opt to show the parade
Katy ISD has had a lot of questions from media partners and parents regarding schools closing tomorrow for the Astros Parade. The District announced it will not be making modifications or cancelling school on Friday, November 3, due to the Astros parade.
"Because Hurricane Harvey already impacted 10 days of instructional time, an additional school closure would further impact extra- and co-curricular activities. Therefore, Katy ISD will not be closing schools tomorrow," explained Maria DiPetta.
"Campuses will have the option to show the parade during the school day, as we are all very excited for our Houston Astros and the community spirit their win has fueled."
The parade will begin at 2 p.m., with city workers set to shut down the parade route beginning at 1 p.m.
The parade will begin on Smith at Lamar, proceeding north on Smith, east on Walker, south on Milam, west on Pease, north on Smith and ending at Lamar Street. Immediately after the parade, there will be a rally outside Houston's City Hall.
