As Katy continues to grow, the community never loses sight of what's important...family. To many residents, that includes the family dog. There are plenty of places in Katy that welcome friendly dogs and their loving owners.

Eating Out with Your Pup

Want to include Fido with your family dining plans? Several popular Katy dining spots welcome your furry best friend. Some even serve their furry customers, but such items are off-menu so be sure to ask.

On the Patio or the Drive-Thru

Although not an official menu item, Starbucks serves the canine favorite, the Puppuccino. The drink is simply a cup of whipped cream that furry friends can be seen devouring in many YouTube videos.

CoCo loves her Puppuccino from Starbucks.

Tips For Dining Out with Your Dog

  • Bring a Water Bowl - While some restaurants may provide a water bowl, play it safe considering how hot it is and that you will be sitting outside.

  • Watch the Heat - Keep your pup in the shade or avoid dining with him during the hot lunch hours.

  • Walk Your Pup Before Dinner - Try to avoid accidents at the table. If your dog has an accident, remember it's your responsibility to clean it up.

  • Keep on the Leash - All dogs outside of their home must be on a leash. Dining out is no exception.

  • Feed Your Dog Before - No one wants to watch others eat when they're hungry, so don't do this to your dog. Ask your server what they recommend for your dog, or bring a snack from home.

  • Know the Menu - Check out the menu before arriving to save time ordering, just in case your furry friend gets anxious and you need to wrap up your meal unexpectedly. Remember your "doggie bag."

  • Bring a Blanket or Towel - Sitting on the ground can get uncomfortable so be prepared to help your dog enjoy himself.

  • No Dogs Under the Table - Dogs must be kept out of the way and leashed but putting them under the table can be hazardous. They could easily be kicked so be mindful of where they sit and that they are kept safe.

  • Bring a Toy - Help your dog have a great night out by bringing a toy but don't annoy fellow diners with a squeaky toy.
