HS Bands from Katy Compete at Regional Championships at Legacy This Saturday

Six high school bands from Katy will compete at the Bands of America Regional Championships this Saturday at Legacy Stadium. The all-day event will showcase the hard work and talent of students from more than 30 high schools in the region.

Legacy Stadium, at 1830 Katyland Drive, will host the Bands of America Regional

Championships Saturday, October 5. The box office and stadium gates open at 6:30 am and the first band takes the field at 7:00 am. More than 30 bands will compete, and 10 will move on to the finals. After the dinner break, the finalists will perform. The event will conclude with the awards ceremony.

Two Katy high school bands advanced to the finals at last year's Regional Championships at Woodforest Bank Stadium. Seven Lakes finished seventh overall and Taylor finished ninth.

The following Katy high school bands will perform (as of October 3):

8:00 am – Paetow

9:30 am – Katy 9:45 am – Taylor

12:45 pm – Cinco Ranch

4:15 pm – Tompkins 4:30 pm – Seven Lakes

5:00 pm – EXHIBITION: University of Houston 5:15 pm – Presentation of Awards 5:45 pm – Stadium Cleared

Dinner Break

7:00 pm – Gates Open 7:30 pm – National Anthem 7:45 pm – Class Exhibition (If needed) 8:00 pm – First Performing Finalist Band 10:30 pm – Finals Competition Ends Class Exhibition (If needed) 10:45 pm – Finale – Presentation of Awards

Ticket Information

Tickets can be purchased at the Legacy Stadium box office:

Day Pass – $31 Prelims – $21 Finals – $21

Discounted tickets are available for students, military, and seniors (65+) at the box office.

Parking is $5 per vehicle.

Music for All’s Goal

Bands of America is a program of Music for All. The organization’s vision is “to be a catalyst to ensure that every child across America has access and opportunity to participate in active music-making in his or her scholastic environment.”

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) has placed this program on the 2019-2020 NASSP List of Approved Contests, Programs, and Activities for Students.
