It just isn't Thanksgiving without one of Katy's most celebrated traditions! The Katy YMCA will be hosting its 17th annual Turkey Dash on Thanksgiving morning, November 28th.

In recent years, Turkey Dash has become one of the largest and most anticipated fun runs in the Greater Houston Area. The event is open to the public and welcomes runners/walkers from all backgrounds. There are races for everyone including a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Kids Race as well as a 1 Mile Walk/Run Course.

The fun doesn’t end after the races though! Join the YMCA and fellow participants at the post-race party packed with food, giveaways, a photo booth and a kids fun zone. Costumes are encouraged and participants can enter solo or as a group to win the “Best Thanksgiving Theme” or “Most Unique Costume.”

Proceeds from the YMCA Turkey Dash provide scholarships to programs such as child care, summer camps, swim lessons, sports leagues and assistance to various area outreach programs within the Katy community. The event was the brainchild of leaders from the YMCA and the church, wishing to organize an activity to bring the community together. Now, the Turkey Dash is a well-recognized, community, holiday-kick-off celebration which attracts participants from all parts of West Houston.
