Sauce, cheese, another slice please! As more people have moved into the area from other states and countries, Katy's dining landscape has evolved. Restaurants have expanded their flavor horizons with chefs adding fresh, new ingredients to their menu offerings. Let's celebrate the delicious options for pizza in our corner of the world.

1. Quattro Formaggio

Mozzarella, asiago, parmesan, pecorino Romano and gorgonzola cheeses

2643 Commercial Center Blvd.

Grimaldi’s serves up delicious New York-style pizza in Cinco Ranch. Red and white checkered table cloths and wine bottle chandeliers combine to offer guests an old-world charm with a contemporary flair. Sit at high tables by the full-service bar, in the cozy dining room, or on the patio overlooking the lake that runs through LaCenterra.

The restaurant’s coal brick oven prepared pizzas have a distinctive taste that blends well with their thick sauces, cheese and generous toppings. Work your way through their specialty pizzas to savor the Traditional White with Garlic Pesto and the Don - Grimaldi’s traditional pizza topped with Italian sausage, meatballs end pepperoni.

2. Joe's Pizza

Mozzarella cheese, spinach and garlic

24210 Westheimer Parkway

The Katy location of Star Pizza has maintained the stellar reputation of the owners’ Houston locations – in Upper Kirby and the Heights. Their deep-dish pizza could possibly weigh more than five pounds of doughy goodness. Add on their sauce, cheese and toppings then throw away the scale.

Choose from Star Pizza’s made-to-order New York-tossed or Chicago-style pizzas, in white or whole wheat crust, or an 8” personal sized gluten-free crust.

3. The Hangover Pizza

Bricco Pizza Kitchen Cocktails is a trendy/casual American bistro with a full bar that recently added a brick oven pizza to their already diverse menu. Popular pizzas include the Hangover pizza with roasted potatoes, bacon, sausage and eggs that is a crowd favorite for brunch. Another popular pizza is the "Three Little Pigs," a pepperoni-meatball and sausage pizza.

They also offer gluten free options. Their bar is quickly becoming a popular hangout for watching your favorite sporting events.

4. Heart Healthy Veggie

The Russo family has been serving up New York-style pizza for years. Their hand-tossed dough comes from 100% Italian semolina wheat with no additives or preservatives. Russo's proudly uses the freshest ingredients like vine-ripened California tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese to prepare their pizzas from recipes that originated in Naples and Sicily.

Planning a party? Order one of Russo's 28-inch pizzas, and make it your own with traditional and premium toppings options.

Russo's offers gluten-free options too.

5. Chicago 7

Pepperoni, Italian sausage, red onions, black olives, green peppers, sliced mushrooms and cheese

Old Chicago Pizza stays true to authentic style and flavor of this iconic pizza style. Unlike New York-style pizza, Chicago-style pizza comes served in a deep dish that hugs the thick dough until it's released by the first cheesy slice.

The chefs at Old Chicago prepare their recipes with high quality, fresh ingredients to pay homage to the classic. Although the style is "Chicago" the restaurant features Hawaiian and Thai-inspired pizzas too.

6. Texas BBQ Brisket Pizza

BBQ Sauce, mozzarella, brisket, bacon, onions, cheddar cheese, drizzled with BBQ Sauce

5815 Franz Road

The Pizza Shoppe in Old Katy offers diners an extensive menu of tempting traditional and specialty pizzas. The small, mom-and-pop restaurant features a homemade sauce and dough and prepares their pizzas with fresh ingredients. However, you'll have to ask what's on the "Heart Attack" pizza - you won't find the ingredients description on their menu.

7. Piggy Pibil

El Canton proudly serves up the bold flavors of Mexico with traditional Italian ingredients. Their specialty pizzas come loaded with delicious ingredients, plus, patrons can customize their own pizza with their endless combination of fresh ingredients.

Diners at El Canton love the non-traditional pizza crusts offered - cauliflower, broccoli and cheddar and gluten-free. They recently moved to a food truck but still are a proud Katy favorite!

8. Buffa-WHOA!

6191 Highway Blvd.

This downtown Katy pizza hotspot is where Neapolitan style, artisanal, and craft pizza rules. They offer unique creations, the classics, and create your own orders.

Try their Buffa-WHOA pizza that is a staff and customer favorite. Other popular hits are the Bees Knees that brings a sweet heat with its honey pesto and hot pepperoni. The Mac Daddy is perfect for macaroni and cheese lovers. Their menu also includes wings, salads, and don't forget to save room for dessert.
