Katy’s Cane Island will welcome a new Katy ISD elementary school onsite of their master-planned community. This will be the District’s 44th elementary school and is scheduled to open fall of 2022.

Cane Island Students Stay at Katy Junior High and High School
Cane Island is just north of I-10 and continually ranks as one of the area’s top sellers for new homes. Cane Island students will continue to attend Katy Junior High and Katy High School. Residents will be able to walk to the new elementary school set to break ground at 7400 Innovation Drive near Cane Island Parkway.
“As the primary driver of new home sales north of I-10, we knew it was just a matter of time before we could open an onsite elementary school right here in the community,” says Lawren Eckhardt, Cane Island director of marketing.
The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved the contract for the construction of Elementary #44 during their May meeting after the Bond 2021 propositions passed.
The District is expected to announce the name for the new school within the next few months. This school was part of the bond proposal that recently passed during the May election.
The new elementary is expected to offer spacious classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, leading edge teaching technologies and prominent natural light throughout the campus.
“Our families value a Katy ISD education and certainly having an elementary school right in their backyard is a huge plus for the community. Residents have been looking forward to this for quite some time," says Eckhardt.

Adding More Homesites, Sections
Cane Island added 152 homesites spanning three new 50-foot sections. Announcements of other new sections are expected soon.
New homes start in the low $300s including move-in ready homes at or near completion. Cane Island also offers a custom home neighborhood, The Estates, that has a limited number of half-acre properties.
Cane Island offers many resort-style amenities from a fitness center, pool and play area, and the popular The Oaks Kitchen & Bar.
From outdoor movie nights, shopping days, the monthly farmers market, and more; Katy families are easily entertained.
