Former Paetow Football Coach Arrested, Accused of Inappropriately Touching and Spanking Students

The former Paetow High School football coach, Lonnie Teagle has been arrested and charged with improper relationship with a student and indecency with a child. He’s been accused of inappropriately touching at least five female students.

Former Katy ISD Football Coach Arrested and Charged

Lonnie Teagle, who has coached the Katy ISD Paetow High School football team since last March, resigned in October amid accusations of misconduct and an investigation into his behavior.

Only One Charge Issued, But More Could Come

According to Harris County District Court records, Teagle is accused of spanking at least two students and inappropriately touching through clothes of at least three other students. All students who made the accusations are minors.

So far, Teagle is only charged with the accusations of one of the students, a 15-year-old girl. His bond is set at $30,000.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges could still be filed. Investigators have found that Teagle had complaints at his former school in Denton ISD. He was accused there of making inappropriate comments to a female student.

Staff members from Stockdick Junior High, the neighboring school to Paetow that feeds into the high school, also shared complaints about Teagle’s behavior. According to authorities, Teagle made staff members uncomfortable with his inappropriate comments and mannerisms. No junior high students have come forward with complaints.

Katy ISD released the following statement in regard to Teagle's arrest:

After several weeks of interagency investigations, the District has been informed by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office that it has accepted charges on former football coach, Lonnie Teagle. The District takes all potential safety concerns seriously. When made aware of any allegation concerning a staff member, the individual is immediately removed from their assignment(s), while District personnel work swiftly with law enforcement and other agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Any further inquiries regarding the case are directed to the Harris County DA’s Office.

Coach Hicks is Interim Coach, Athletic Coordinator

Coach David Hicks Sr. is currently serving as the interim Paetow football coach and athletic coordinator.

The Paetow Panther’s won the 2021 State Football Championship (5A) title under the direction of Coach B.J. Gotte, who accepted the head coaching position at Pearland High School.
