Waiver Funding Free Meals Extended

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Texas Department of Agriculture have extended a waiver that will provide free meals to all Katy-area students from Monday, September 21 through December 31. Each Katy ISD student (KVA or in-person) will be offered one breakfast and one lunch per day.

“I think it’s a great idea,” says Katy mom Angie Waller. “One less thing for parents to worry about.”

Katy parents can still add funds to their Pay N’ Go account for a la cart purchases and for when the free funding expires.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications Still Due

Free and reduced meal applications for the 2020-21 academic year must still be turned in to review benefits for when the waiver expires.

Virtual Learners Can Pick-Up Meals

KVA students will have access to the free meals, as well as any Katy-area student under the age of 18 whether they are enrolled in the District or not.

Students can pick up breakfast and lunch meals, curbside from 4 - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals will be heated at home and are intended to be picked up a day prior to eating.

Curbside Pick-up Locations:

  • Morton Ranch High School

  • Mayde Creek High School

  • Cinco Ranch High School

Documentation Required

If a child is not present at meal pick-up, parents are required to present documentation for each child. A student report card, student ID, attendance record, birth certificate, or any official letter or school enrollment form with the student’s information will be accepted.

Your student’s ID number can be accessed via the Home Access Site.

Meal menus can be viewed at the Katy ISD Food Services webpage.

The free meal waiver is good until December 31, or as long as supplies last.
