Katy ISD board member George Scott announced he will not run for either open position in the School board election to be held on May 4, 2019. On January 16, Katy ISD critic Sean Dolan filed to run in the seat 1 (Scott's current position). Both Scott and Dolan have been open about their dislike for each other.

At the August school board meeting, Scott accused Dolan of publicly mocking him. “Nicholas (a previous speaker) came up here with very valid questions and you not only took your hearing piece out of your head, you turned your head away from him,” said Dolan. Scott responded by saying, "That is a personal attack and I want to respond to that,” Scott told board president Courtney Doyle.“If you are going to make fun and mock a 69-year-old’s hearing impediment, you can do that,” Scott told Dolan.

Sean Dolan created the group "A Better Legacy" and posted repeated derogatory claims about former Superintendent Lance Hindt. Dolan then invited a childhood classmate of Hindt to publicly accuse Hindt of bullying at an open school board meeting.

The video of the accusation went viral and made national news. Hindt and his wife and children were bombarded with hateful emails and threats causing Hindt to leave the district in the best interests of his family.

Scott told another news source he also been the target of a hate campaign by Dolan's "A Better Legacy" Facebook group, and said he has received several viscous emails. “You deserve to be dragged from your home and beaten to death, traitorous piece of human garbage," one email read.

Part of George Scott's Statement is below.

I will NOT be a candidate in either open position for the Katy I.S.D. School Board in the election to be held Saturday, May 4, 2019.

It is my expectation to make a more detailed statement on my Facebook page early Monday morning, January 28. However, I may change my mind and write nothing.

This is close enough to tomorrow morning to qualify as meeting my announcement commitment for a decision that was made three months ago. I am going to watch a couple of British murder mysteries with my wife tonight; go to bed; wake up tomorrow morning; and, if I decide to do so, write something over this extended weekend to explain where Katy I.S.D. is at this point in time; who the players are; and what is at risk on May 4, 2019.

I am removing my analysis of existing reality from even the appearance of being vested personal political interests by announcing I will NOT seek re-election to the school board.

I am going to give my assessment of what has happened over the course of the last calendar year, and what will happen if Sean Dolan's team - which absolutely includes in my assessment current board members Dawn Champagne and Rebecca Fox - becomes a member of the Katy I.S.D. School Board on election night.

(That's right - Rebecca Fox)! (Details to follow if I decide to do so.) Further, I am going to explain the journalistic corruption and abject journalistic dishonesty of The Houston Chronicle and the more local Impact News. Crap journalism.

When it is all said and done and having removed myself from the political arena so that my comments cannot even be remotely interpreted as advancing my political interests since my political career is officially over, the community and the media can do and respond however it wants to do so.
