A section of SH-99 or the Grand Parkway through Katy is getting an expansion to better serve the community. Find out how this will impact your drive around town.

The Department of Transportation announced a 15-mile expansion of SH-99 that will stretch from I-10 Katy Freeway north to US-290. Authorities with the department say that the section has become increasingly congested calling for change.

This section of 99 opened in 2013 and runs through large Katy neighborhoods like Elyson and runs through Bridgeland.
A meeting is planned for the community to ask questions for this Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steve Radack Community Center at 18650 Clay Road. The meeting will also be held virtually.

The project is estimated to be about $157 million project that will take three years to complete and will be paid for through toll revenue. During the expansion, necessary drainage improvements will also be made.
TxDOT says that the project is set to start right away and will not displace residents or businesses.
