Katy local VFW Post 9182 will be at No Label Brewing today to honor the fallen and support veterans through the VFW Buddy Poppy Program.

Katy families can visit the VFW Post 9182 today at No Label Brewing and learn more about the Buddy Poppy Program, that is more than a flower but a symbol of remembrance for those who didn’t make it home and a reminder of their sacrifice.

The VFW has been distributing poppies on Memorial Day since 1922 and then was adopted as the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. The next year, the VFW decided that poppies would be assembled by disabled and needy Veterans who would be paid for their work to provide them with financial assistance.
On May 20, 1924, the trademark was officially registered for the name Buddy Poppy and VFW maintains all trademark rights. The VFW also guarantees that all poppies bearing the Buddy Poppy name and the VFW label are genuine products of the work of disabled and needy veterans.

To this day, that tradition holds strong in support of disabled veterans as we use the symbol to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
The VFW Buddy Poppy program provides compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies, provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans’ rehabilitation and service programs and partially supports the VFW National Home For Children.
But more than the support, this flower serves as a remembrance for all of those who did not come home from their service.
Today, families can visit the Buddy Poppy Program table at No Label and learn more about the history and program. Take a flower and remember. This program continues to serve families right here in our community.

Also, at No Label today, enjoy food and drinks from Zaab Thai Food, TX BIRRIA BOYZ and Mushroom Coffee. Plus all your No Label favorites.
No Label opens early today at noon and closes at 10:00 p.m. Visit them at 5351 1st Street and support the local VFW and the Buddy Poppy Program.
