Katy Family Thanks Community for Support After Daughter’s Death

Lola James Lewis died earlier this month, and her family is thankful for the community’s overwhelming support. The Lewis family has set up a charitable fund in her honor. Learn more in the story.
Eleven-year-old Tays Junior High Student passed away on September 11, 2026, after an e-scooter crash. The family has felt the love from the community support as they work through grief and find ways to honor Lola.
“We don't have the words to fully express what your love and support have meant to us over the past 2 days,” says the Lewis Family. “The loss of our amazing Lola has brought a pain we never imagined we'd have to carry. In our time of loss, your kindness has helped beyond measure.”

Those who knew Lola will always remember her for her enormous giving heart, infectious sense of humor, quick wit, endless amounts of style and free-spirited, vibrant personality.
She had a brilliant mind all her own and a unique way of seeing the world that made her unforgettable. She had a way of making people laugh, making sure everyone felt included, making people feel loved, and bringing her own unique energy into every room she entered.
According to her family, she loved music and matcha, trying new recipes, shopping and fashion, drawing and art, sushi, and putting her own creative artistic touch into everything she did.
“Every message, delivery, and moment you’ve taken to reach out is carrying us through this impossible time,” says her family. “The way so many have come together to organize remembrances in Lola's honor has touched us more than you know. Knowing she was loved by so many, and that her brilliant light will be remembered, means everything.”
Some of her happiest moments were spent simply spending time with her family and friends, holidays and birthdays, summers tubing at the lake, getting to go out with her brothers once Knox got his license, traveling (and our secret girls upgrade), the list could go on and on.
She will be remembered for the fullness of life she carried within her, her incredible wisdom beyond her years, her extraordinary kindness, and her beautiful spirit, and for the countless ways she touched the lives of her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and loved ones.

Lola is survived by her parents, Rob and Alex Lewis; siblings, Knox Lewis and Rhett Lewis; grandparents, Rick Tydings and Shelley and Gale Towns; and aunt, Courtney Tydings.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Susan Tydings, who we have no doubt was there to greet her with open arms.
Accordining to her family, Lola is survived by many other family members and a tremendous group of friends who loved her.
“Though her life was far too short, the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the joy she brought to others will remain forever,” says her family, Rob, Alex, Knox, and Rhett.
