Since arriving in March of 2016, Wilson has kept very busy with disasters such as Hurricane Harvey and Tax Day flood of 2018 as well as overseeing the development of a second fire station located at the Katy Mills Mall.
The new fire station, located at 25420 Bell Patna Dr, is set to open in October 2018. Fire Chief Wilson has made sure that this home away from home for the staff will be comfortable with items such as a kitchen, exercise area and privacy quarters. Firefighters often work shifts of at least 24-hours, so this layout will help the men and women to be more rested and comfortable.
Wilson was instrumental in creating a wellness program for firefighters, who are put in stressful situations daily and can suffer from PTSD and other stress-related health problems.
During and after Hurricane Harvey came through, bringing 52 inches of rain to our area, the City of Katy Fire Department assisted in rescuing over 650 people.
Wilson was previously with the City of Irving Fire Department serving as assistant chief.
