We may be in Football Season, but Katy families need to know and be ready for shows by Katy ISD’s talented Fine Arts students. There is a variety offered from theatre, dance, choir, orchestra, and bands ready to demonstrate their talent and entertain the community.

“From orchestra, band and choir to theatre, dance and visual arts, our students consistently demonstrate excellence in performance and creativity,” says Damon Archer, Katy ISD Executive Director of Fine Arts. “Following overwhelmingly positive feedback, we are excited to provide an all-in-one resource that makes it easier for families and community members to explore Fine Arts events across the District, stay in Katy and support our talented students, dedicated teachers and outstanding programs.”

Many of these groups routinely make it to state and are considered to be some of the best in state.

“Beyond developing musicianship, Katy High School Choir cultivates a supportive community where every student feels a sense of belonging and purpose,” says Nick Likos, Katy High School Choir Director. “Every time we perform publicly, our students get to give back to the Katy community that supports them, turning shared hard work into an inspiring musical experience for everyone in attendance.”

And the District is also known for having some unique programs such as the Mariachi Band at Morton Ranch High School.

“This Semester highlights included 3 students on the Houston AllStar Mariachi We played for third year in a row for Academy Sports Headquarters and Hispanic Heritage events around the Katy Community,” says Antonio Roca, Morton Ranch High School Mariachi Director. “Mariachi Luna de Jalisco enjoys collaborating with Mayde Creek and playing for the community around the Katy and Houston area.”

Katy ISD Theatre Departments bring shows worthy of the Hobby Center bringing the Katy community closer to top-level talent and entertainment.

“Katy residents don’t need to go downtown for a great theater show,” says Dawn Champagne, Katy ISD Board of Trustee. “Our high school and junior high productions are just as good and a fraction of the cost. I promise you will not be disappointed.”

Katy ISD maintains a helpful Fine Arts Calendar so Katy families can stay in the know. Find it online here.

Some Katy ISD performances have tickets on sale through the District website, while others are on their production company’s website (click high school name above to go to those websites.) If you aren’t able to find the link for tickets, call the school. Below are some links to help.

Katy residents 65 or older and retired 65 and older Katy ISD retirees (regardless of residence) are able to get a Gold Card Club card that allows them free admission to District Fine Arts and Athletic events. You can get your card by contact this the KISD Administration building (6301 South Stadium Lane) 281-396-6000.

However, this is not valid for all shows if shows are selling tickets for fundraising. Always check with your school and show on what they are doing.
