In Katy, local businesses and national chains have announced that they’re hiring as Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to move ahead with his phased plan to reopen the state. Many businesses have also begun to bring back employees who were forced out of their jobs due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Who's Hiring in Katy?
As businesses in Katy show their "resumption of economic activity," they are now posting jobs for seasonal, part-time and full-time employees. The local job market needs people to fill positions in childcare, clerical, education, food service, retail, and more.

Igloo Corporation to Hold Virtual Job Fair
The Igloo manufacturing plant in Katy announced the need to add several hundred new team members. Key temporary summer positions include: Blow Mold Machine Operators and Assembly Line Operators. Although the company website said, “several other positions will be available for those with relevant experience.”

Unemployment Numbers Declining
Today, the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics released an encouraging report that sent the stock market up nearly 1000 points in trading this morning.
“The unemployment rate declined by 1.4 percentage points to 13.3 percent in May, and the number of unemployed persons fell by 2.1 million to 21.0 million,” the report revealed.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics attributed the positive numbers to the “resumption of economic activity” since businesses were impacted by COVID-19 in March and April.
