Katy Kids Receive COVID-19 Vaccinations; Katy KISD Schedules Optional Vaccine Clinics

Katy parents seek opportunities for the newly approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination for ages 5-11. Katy ISD will open optional COVID-19 vaccination clinics starting next week for students now eligible for the vaccine.

COVID Vaccine for Ages 5-11 Now Approved

This week the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) both approved the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for children ages 5-11.



“It is such a relief to be able to have access to a safe and effective vaccine,” says Katy mom Chancie Davis, who drove her first grader to Texas Children’s in the Medical Center. “They provided a seamless experience to vaccinate the 5-11 age group with no wait upon arrival for your appointment.”


Appointments are available through Texas Children’s (including Katy’s West Campus location,) CVS, and Walgreens pharmacies.


Katy ISD Schedules Optional Vaccine Clinics

Katy ISD will open optional vaccine clinics to KISD students starting next week.


Katy ISD continues to work with Randalls Pharmacy to provide optional vaccine opportunities for staff and eligible students. Katy ISD students are not required to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in order to participate in District activities or programs.


Online reservations have not open yet, but the District has released the vaccine schedule that starts Wednesday, November 10. Parents can check for online reservations and access the required consent form here.


Vaccines will be free of charge and administered at the Agriculture Sciences Center (5801 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road. Students ages 12-18 may also receive a vaccine but are not yet eligible for a booster vaccination.

First Shot:


Wednesday, November 10, 2021 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 13, 2021 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, November 17, 2021 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.


Second Shot:


Wednesday, December 1, 2021 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 4, 2021 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 8, 2021 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.



Students must complete a parent consent form and have a valid student ID in order to receive the vaccination.


Katy ISD employees, who wish to, can receive the Pfizer booster during the same scheduled dates/times.


Parents can email questions about the optional COVID-19 vaccination available to students 5-18 years old or call 281-396-7499.


“We are so thrilled that this opportunity is finally here,” says Davis.
