Katy Christian Ministries, a Katy area non-profit is again running their A Turkey for Every Table campaign to help Katy families get a traditional Thanksgiving meal. As the need for local families continues to rise, the charity is seeking a higher goal of turkeys and hams this season.

Katy's Need has Doubled this Year

Each Thanksgiving season, Katy Christian Ministries runs a campaign to help Katy families in need to experience a traditional Thanksgiving meal and feel the community’s love. A Turkey for Every Table offers Katy families to help those in need by donating a turkey, ham or making a donation.

“This year, the current need for the people in the Greater Katy area has doubled financial support, especially for utilities assistance and rent/mortgage assistance, is at the top of the presenting needs via our Social Services, followed by food assistance from our Food Pantry Program,” says Deysi Crespo- Katy Christian Ministries Executive Director.

Crespo believes that the contributing factors to this economic hardship includes the increase in the cost of living such as utility bills, rent/mortgage, groceries and gas.

“The number of families in need is on the rise,” explains Crespo. “On average, the KCM Food Pantry serves approximately 7,500 households per year. 1,200 is typically the number of families we’ll see during the months of November and December alone.”

And 1,200 turkeys and hams is the goal for this year’s A Turkey for Every Table program.

How to Donate

Donations can be dropped off at the KCM Food Pantry:

3506 Porter Rd. Katy, TX, 77493

Monday - Thursday

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Donations can also be made online and the organization ensures that a turkey or ham will be ordered with your donation. Donations are being accepted now through December 11.

“This program is extra special because not only is it providing food, but it is also an opportunity to provide a holiday meal to families who would not have the means to make it possible,” says Crespo. “Whether it is a family of 5, 12, or 1 individual, we know that there will be relief and joy at the holiday table thanks to our loving community.”
