Katy's Outdoor Family Fun Guide


Katy has lots of fun outdoor activities for families. Here's a list of some of the best places for parents and kids to explore outdoors.

Always free, Central Green Park has an outdoor stage, large oak shade trees and ample outdoor seating, providing a year-round venue for community activities and entertainment. There are a variety of free classes and activities, such as movie nights, Tai Chi, live music, story times, festivals, and much more. See their upcoming concerts and events here

Play mini golf for free, go fishing, hang out in the gazebo, play disk golf, picnic in the pavilion, or take a walk on the lighted trail. Peckham Park also offers many free community classes for residents.

Take a family bike ride or long walk along this rugged trail that goes through George Bush Park and even through trails tucked behind S. Fry Road. Get ready to see some wildlife if you go in the mornings or at dusk.

Features a mile-long walking trail with educational signage that surrounds a central lake and fountain, an iconic pedestrian bridge that connects the park to a 20-mile trail system running from I-10 to Beltway 8.

Show up before 6 pm on Mondays and run a free 5K in historic Katy with a great group of new and experienced runners. Kids and pets are welcome. Discount beer after the race and sometimes food trucks or booths are there. Other 5K races are held here throughout the year to benefit various charities. Some of the best free fun in Katy.

Check out one of the 14 different preserves and trek through Katy's well-preserved prairie lands and learn about wildlife and conservation.

Gather a group of your closest friends and play a fun game of volleyball at the public sand volleyball courts located near Barker Cypress and IH-10.

Take a photo in front of the "You'll Love Katy" wall and hang it on your wall! While your there, learn more about Katy's heritage at the Wright House, Stockdick House, and Tradition Bank Bandstand.

Make plans now to come out on the fourth Sunday of every month from 11 am to 3 pm There will be local vendors and artisans selling honey, cheese, fresh eggs, seasonal vegetables & much more.

Willow Fork Park Map It

Crosspoint Community

Try either of these two terrific 9-hole disc golf courses for the community. Willowfork's is in a 32-acre park. Crosspoint Community has one near Rick Rice Park. The park is located at the northwest corner of SH 99/Grand Parkway and Cinco Ranch Blvd., north of Cinco Ranch High School.

A beautiful sensory sensation for children, this park is visual and fun for little ones. Dedicated to environmental education, the park features a musical bridge, fun swing varieties, a large play area, picnic tables, and a water cycle wall. WARNING: No bathrooms at this location.
