Katy’s Renee Zellweger Earns Best Actress Oscar Nomination

Katy's Renee Zellweger received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her title role in "Judy". Winners will be announced at the 92nd Academy Awards, in Hollywood, on Sunday, February 9. Zellweger, a 1987 graduate from Katy High School, is one of Katy's most successful and recognized celebrities.

This makes Zellweger is a four-time Academy Award-nominated actress and one-time winner (Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "Cold Mountain"). She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "Bridget Jones’s Diary" and "Chicago".


Born and Raised in Katy

Renee Zellweger was born in Katy and graduated from Katy High School, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad.



"Judy" Role Already Winning Awards

The award season is off to a great start for Zellweger, one of Katy’s biggest celebrities. She is getting rave reviews for her portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy". The actress has already won the Best Actress award for her role at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Remembering Katy Roots
