A Katy babysitter, Tiffany Monique Wright, has been arrested for theft from the family she was working for.
Wright was arrested and charged with felony theft, accused of stealing thousands of dollars in personal belongings from a Cypress family for whom she worked as a babysitter.
Wright, 19, had worked for the victim’s family for several months, often babysitting their children and growing close to the family. On June 9, the victim discovered several pieces of jewelry and accessories missing from her home in the 20800 block of Bristol Meadow Lane. A home video game system and more than a dozen video games were also missing.
Investigators from Constable Ted Heap’s Office, after speaking with the victim and the suspect, recently obtained a warrant for Wright’s arrest. She was picked up and formally charged this week.
This is not the first theft charge Wright has on her record since turning 18. She was arrested in June 2017 on the same charge, Felony Theft of Goods $100 - $750. That case was disposed yesterday, June 26, 2018 with a 5 day jail sentence.
Wright is currently in the Harris County Jail on the new theft charge and her next court date is August 8, 2018.
This serves as a good reminder to always check references and perform a background check on unknown individuals that will enter your home and/or work with the family. Many online companies perform this service.
