ROADS CLOSED IN KATY
Grand parkway flyover at Westpark at 1093 is closed due to ice. Houston Mayor advises ice likely to be on the roads through Wednesday.
FLIGHTS CANCELLED
Hundreds of flights have been delayed out of Bush and Hobby Airports.
DON'T GET STRANDED
Even if you are able to get to your destination this morning safely you may not be able to get back later which is one of the reasons experts are recommending staying put
ROAD CLOSURES
All overpasses on Grand Parkway in Katy are closed due to ice. More road closures are likely to continue today and possibly through the next two days. Officials are encouraging people to stay home and off roads today and possibly tomorrow. Freezing temps with icy roadways will create dangerous driving conditions.
FREEZING COLD TEMPS
Temperatures are expected to remain in the 20s this afternoon and into the evening hours.
SNOWFALL
Some Katy residents are seeing snow flurries and light hail as of early this morning.
BEWARE OF ICE ON FOOT
Walking on ice is not safe either so be careful when you're outside.
FINAL WARNING
If you MUST drive avoid any areas with high overpasses or bridges. If you drive somewhere, you MAY get stuck there for up to two days.
PETS, PIPES, PLANTS, and POOLS
Keep pets inside, cover your pipes and plants, and turn on your pools through the freeze.
