Stanley Elementary students are now enjoying a new greenhouse thanks to Mayde Creek High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students.
Storm puts student learning on hold
Last spring, a severe thunderstorm completely destroyed the structure where various science experiments were being housed. Replacing the greenhouse with its original components was projected to cost thousands of dollars. However, the FFA students sprung into action with the assistance of several Katy ISD departments.
Rams and others generosity saves the district thousands
The Risk Management Department provided assistance to purchase the needed materials, which allowed students to begin designing and building a larger framework with steel tubing. The Maintenance and Operations Department worked hand in hand with the students to provide the finishing touches.
Collaboration among these groups ended with the successful completion of this project, along with a cost saving to the campus.
