The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Katy are partnering to launch the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. This new initiative is designed to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Nominations are now open for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program, a new initiative born of the partnership between the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Katy. Nominations can be made online.

This program is designed to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. A living memorial will line George Bush Drive, between Avenue D and the VFW Hall, with personalized banners proudly displaying names, photos, and branches of service local veterans and active-duty military personnel.

“This program is more than just banners on a street—it’s a symbol of gratitude, recognition, and community pride,” says Adrienne Davitz, Vice President of Membership and Community Relations at the Katy Area Chamber. “It’s our honor to celebrate the legacy of service that lives within Katy’s families and streets.”

This will be a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by members of the Katy community in the name of freedom and service. Each banner will be professionally produced in partnership with Holiday Outdoor Décor, a trusted vendor for the City of Katy and the Katy Heritage Park Board, and will be displayed for a rotating period to allow the stories of many to be seen and remembered.

At this time, the program is open to veterans and current service members who are or were residents of the City of Katy. Families can either sponsor a banner or apply for financial assistance through community partnerships. The Chamber will handle all aspects—from banner production to family communication and coordination with the city’s Parks Department.

“This is about honoring our hometown heroes in a visible, lasting way,” adds Davitz. “We’re proud to partner with the City of Katy to bring this vision to life.”
