Three Katy ISD Football Teams Advance to Area Playoffs

Four Katy ISD high school football teams entered the 2018 playoffs. Three won their Bi-district games last weekend advancing to the Area playoffs.

Katy High School

The Katy Tigers played the Bi-district playoff game against Fort Bend Travis Friday night. Katy took the lead early on. Travis scored their one and only touchdown in the 4th quarter. Final score was 52-7. This win cemented Coach Joseph's place in the Texas history books with his 200th win. He reached this milestone faster than any other Texas high school football coach. Joseph's overall record is 200-19, all of which he accomplished while with Katy.

On Friday, November 23 at 1 pm at Legacy Stadium, the Tigers, ranked #9 in Texas, will take on the Jersey Village Falcons, ranked #86. Both teams are 10-1 for the season.

Taylor High School

The Taylor Mustangs took on the Fort Bend Dulles Vikings Friday night in their fourth playoff run in five years. At Mercer Stadium in Sugar Land, Taylor dominated early scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter and Dulles was not able to recover. The final score was 28-13.

On Friday, November 23 at 7:00 pm the Mustangs are coming home to Legacy Stadium take on the Cy-Creek Cougars for the Area playoff game.

Tompkins High School

The Tompkins Falcons, in their first ever playoff game, took on the Fort Bend Elkins at Rhodes Stadium on Friday. Tompkins was the first to make it on the board with 2:55 left in the first quarter. The game was hard fought but by the final touchdown, by Ryan Schmidt, in the fourth with 6:30 to go, Tompkins solidified a substantial lead with a score of 35-20 that could not be overcome by Elkins.

As Tompkins advance to the Area playoffs they will take on the Cypress Falls Eagles, who are currently ranked #147 in Texas. The Saturday, November 24, 1:00 pm game, at Ken Pridgeon Stadium, will be a test of how far the Falcons, who are ranked #159, have advanced in skill this season.

Seven Lakes High School

The Seven Lakes Spartans played a Bi-district game against Ridge Point at Hall Stadium in Missouri City. Both teams fought hard with Ridge Point coming out on top with a final score of 14-10.
