Harris County Constable 5 deputies arrested two Katy men after one of them was caught burglarizing a pickup truck in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon.

David Visconti, 32, and Daniel Martinez, 36, both ended up in the Harris County jail after being arrested in the 9200 block of Lakeshores Lagoon Lane in Cypress, near Greenhouse and West Rd.

The victim, who traveled to Cypress to visit his nieces, walked outside and found Visconti inside his truck at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 11. The victim confronted the burglar and then saw his stolen backpack inside the suspects truck, which was parked nearby with a trailer attached to it.

The suspects attempted to leave the scene but were unable to start their vehicle. They pushed it and the trailer down the street. When deputies arrived, the two men were working to jump start the truck with a motorcycle battery.

A search of the vehicle netted a stolen motorcycle frame and a shotgun in the back of the suspects pickup truck, and crystal meth inside the trucks cab along with the victims stolen items.

Visconti is charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of a firearm. He has a lengthy criminal history in Texas that includes drug possession and assault of a family member in Harris County in addition to unauthorized use of a vehicle, credit card abuse and burglary in other counties in Texas. Visconti was assigned a public defender and is being held on a $5,000 bond at the Harris County Jail. He is awaiting evaluation for a mental illness or intellectual disability.

Martinez was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. His criminal history dates back a year including felony possession of a weapon, carrying handgun in a motor vehicle and drug possession...all of which have been disposed. He is being held on a $10,000 bond in the Harris County Jail.

Visconti and Martinez share a home in Katy. Both are set to appear in court on Tuesday, November 13.
