Local organization provided free medical care services in the aftermath of Harvey and beyond

On August 30th, as the flood waters receded from Kingsland Boulevard, Christ Clinic reopened its doors to continue serving the Katy community.
Over the next weeks, the clinic provided free medical services to over 700 patients ranging from patient visits to prescription refills. The clinic also provided 186 free tetanus shots to community members, volunteers and first responders. Christ Clinic partnered to provide primary health care with the organizations Heart to Heart International Disaster Relief and Project Hope.
As a nonprofit charity medical clinic, Christ Clinic provides medical care to the uninsured with a team of caring and dedicated volunteer providers and support personnel. In 2016, Christ Clinic provided more than 10,000 patient visits to uninsured members of the community.
Christ Clinic also offers classes that promote healthy lifestyles and provides education about managing chronic conditions. To aid in post-flood recovery efforts, Christ Clinic will continue to provide free patient visits..
As a result of Hurricane Harvey, Christ Clinic will be opening its doors to ANYONE affected by the Hurricane and unprecedented flooding at NO COST (until further notice).
"During this time, we will be waiving all service fees and providing basic medical care and providing medication to ANYONE in need," said a Christ Clinic spokesperson.
"In addition, our volunteer medical director and other medical volunteers will assemble a “mobile unit” equipped with lifesaving medications such as insulin, high blood pressure medication and inhalers to dispense at local shelters housing nearly 2,000 evacuees."
Because Christ Clinic will be stretching its resources to meet the needs of the community, monetary donations would be our greatest need.
Due to the flooding caused by Harvey, Christ Clinic has moved and rescheduled its Breakfast for a Blessing event. The 6th annual Breakfast for a Blessing will be held on Friday, October 20th at Crosspoint Church in Katy. Houston Methodist West will be the title sponsor for the event and Charles Smith, the Executive Commissioner for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, will be the guest speaker. The event will raise funds that directly benefit the patients served at Christ Clinic.
