Free Fun in Katy! Local Libraries Feature Great Programs for All

Stories, movies, crafts and special guests!!! Bring the kids to the Katy-area libraries to squash summer boredom. Each location offers fun activities for young people to explore stories. These special library events are free and have limited availability.

Afternoon Adventures

Crocodile Encounters

July 8 at 1:30 pm

Meet the fearless crocodile at Crocodile Encounters

Science Tellers

July 15 at 1:30 pm

Experience an action-packed performance complete with alien adventures and science experiments.

Wristbands will be given out 30 minutes before the program.

Zoofari Adventures

July 22 at 1:30 pm

Encounter different furry animals at Zoofari Adventures.

Wristbands will be given out 30 minutes before the event.

Magical Balloon Guy Robb Holladay

July 29 at 1:30 pm

Prepare to laugh with Robb, his wacky puppets, and his balloons.

Wristbands will be given out 30 minutes before the performance.

Tuesday

Infant Time

10:15 am and 11:15 am

Ages 3 to 17 months

This session lasts 20 minutes and features nursery rhymes, songs, and fingerplays.

Wednesday

Preschool Storytime

10:15 am

Preschool-aged children can participate in this program which helps promote reading through stories and songs.

Thursday

Totally Toddler

10:15 am and 11:15 am

Ages 18 – 36 months

Toddlers and their caregivers can participate in songs, games, and hear stories.

“A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Program

The program welcomes Katy residents and divides them into age-appropriate groups: young readers, middle school students, and high school age and above. The reading challenge offers prizes ranging from bookmarks to the chance to win a 16 GB Fire HD 7 tablet.

Toddlers can participate in stories, classic rhymes, songs, and play time.

Tuesday

Mother Goose

10:15 am

0 – 18 months

Non-walking babies can participate in this multi-sensory class that helps stimulate babies' social, emotional and physical development through rhythm and music.

Wednesday

Story Time

11:30 am

Children will watch a movie, make crafts, and hear stories.

Members of the club can find out the latest news in the anime world, discuss their favorite manga, and watch different anime’s.

3 – 6 years

Children can listen to stories, hear songs, and even make crafts.
