Central Green Park will host their 12th annual Back to School Bash this Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Practice for the Community Dance Reel will start at 6:30 p.m.

“The Back to School Bash is an opportunity to meet future classmates, make friends, donate school supplies, visit with owners of after care programs and another opportunity to make the most of the summer,” says Yvonne Arceneaux, Willow Fork Drainage District’s Park Director.

This year, the Amobi Okoye Foundation and The Retro Exchange will be giving school supplies to those in need. Those who can donate school supplies are asked to bring them to the event so they can be distributed by the AO Foundation throughout the year.

Last year, the Amobi Okoye Foundation handed out over 200 backpacks full of supplies to those in need.

Happening at the Event

By popular request, teen band RPM will headline the show. The event will also have vendors like Premium CPR and Cypress Starz Cheer/Cypress Elite Youth Sports that will be sharing their class schedules.

This year there is a bubble booth and new mascots (Bluey, Bingo, Lilo, Stitch and Angel) for kids to take pictures with.

“Everyone loves to watch or create dance reels,” says Arceneaux. “I thought it would be fun to do a community dance reel. What a better night than at our Back to School Bash?”

Stylus Dance Studio will teach six of the hottest new trends starting at 6:30 p.m. In the 7:00 p.m. hour, a Central Green staff member will record a reel.

“We are encouraging all who take part to create a reel of their own to share on social media,” says Arceneaux.

Central Green Park, developed by Willow Fork Drainage District (WFDD,) is located at the south end of LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. It is a true entertainment destination close to shopping dining, theaters, and libraries. The park provides a multi-purpose venue for many standing weekly events, monthly events, special events, and more.

As summer comes to a close, Katy families can expect the fun to continue as popular events return this fall to Central Green Park along with new excitement.

“We are bringing back your favorite events and have added new bands, movies and festivals,” says Arceneaux.

Bollywood Night takes place in August. This year the annual Birthday Bash will have a Brazilian theme. They will host the first Native American festival complete with fashion show, artifact exhibit, dance and drums will be held in November. Hispanic Heritage month will feature a Latin Festival and several performances this year. Diwali Mela returns as well as one of Katy's favorite events, Dia de los Meurtos.

All events are Central Green Park are FREE and open to all. They do have strict policies on not interrupting events or performers. Those that do so or attempt to block access to these events will be removed.

Weather is always a concern with outdoor events. If this event is rained out, it will be rescheduled for this Sunday, August 3, 2025. If weather still interferes, it will be rescheduled to Saturday, August 30, 2025 (but an hour earlier on that date.)

“The Bash is an opportunity for students to meet kids from other schools and foster community relations,” says Arceneaux.
