Katy ISD is officially on winter break and Central Green Park in LaCenterra is ready to offer seasonal fun. The Willow Fork Drainage District park will host their first Polar Express Party Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event was originally set for Saturday but was moved due to weather.

“It's an opportunity for families to build a train car together using their own creativity,” says Yvonne Arceneaux, Parks Director for Willow Fork Drainage District (WFDD.) “This time will allow parents to learn more about their children's talents and gifts.”

The event will start with a DJ and fun music. The first 200 kids will receive hot cocoa and a jingle bell.

Families are encouraged to have their kids decorate boxes as train cars for them to sit in during the movie. Those kids who decorated a box can be in a parade around the green led by the party’s train conductor. There will be prizes for the best train cars.

“This is also a great teaching opportunity for parents in addition to spending quality time together,” says Arceneaux. “The event is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”

Central Green Park WFDD will release their 2022 schedule of events next month. The park is a popular Katy hot spot for many events such as yoga, tai chi, live music, and so many events.
