The American Legion Post 164 and Auxiliary in Katy organized the visit of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit at Camping World. The exhibit has several stops in Texas, and Katy resident and Commander James “Jim” McGuire was instrumental in arranging for the tour stopping in Katy.

“We tried to get it a few months ago, but the Covid-19 lockdown prevented our plan and coming off the arctic freeze, we are hoping to see members of the community come out and learn about Wreaths Across America and their mission,” says Commander James “Jim” McGuire.

The Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit brings local communities and military personnel together to share stories of patriotism and love of country. The mobile museum hopes to teach the next generation about service and sacrifice, and to honor and remember those veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The 48-foot exhibit is equipped with a screening room, interactive computers, and guides to inform guests about the Wreaths Across America mission.

“I am really honored to have this exhibit come to our area,” says Commander McGuire.

Wreaths Across America was founded in 2005 by Morrill and Karen Worcester with the idea of placing a surplus of wreaths at the Veterans Memorial at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. The gesture grew into a national movement led by volunteers who now gather in small towns and major cities across America. Their goal - to honor veterans who have served and passed on and recognize their sacrifice and service to the country.
