Houston Man Charged with Murder of Katy Man Protecting his Family

A suspect has been arrested in the 2019 murder of a Katy man, who died protecting his family during a break-in.

Jadon Carpy, 21, was arrested on February 23, 2023 at his residence in Houston, Texas with the assistance of the Gulf Coast Violence Offenders Task Force.



Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office investigators identified Carpy, after an extensive investigation, as the suspect in the murder of Brenton Estorffe, 29.


“Another life was taken away so tragically in the hands of a criminal,” says Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan. “Although we cannot bring Mr. Estorffe back to his family, the tireless efforts of our investigators to identify the suspect in the case don’t go unnoticed.”


Killed Protecting His Family

On October 16, 2019, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance at the 6900 block of Glen Rosa Drive in Katy. Upon arrival, deputies found that a window in the Seven Meadows home had been broken by intruder(s.) The Estorffe family had woken up to the noise and Brenton Estorffe was killed in front of them.


Authorities report that Estorffe died protecting his wife and children.


Carpy has been charged with Murder and his bond is set at $350,000.
