Harris County Constable Calls for New Pajamas
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Harris County Constable Terry Allbritton is asking residents to donate new pajamas to help victims of domestic violence. This is an annual drive that has been helping Katy Area families since 2017.
A Sense of Security
“Our department is proud to go above and beyond to support survivors of domestic violence through this pajama drive. Something as simple as a new pair of pajamas can bring comfort to women and children escaping from a difficult situation," says Harris County Constable Terry Allbritton. "We’re extremely grateful for the generosity of our community demonstrated over the years by their donations which make it possible for us to support these women and children as they begin to rebuild their lives.”
Precinct 5 says that all the pajamas received go directly to victims in this area through their department and through other agencies that provide shelter and assistance to those who are survivors of domestic violence.
“When they come in and sit in our office, their needs are vast and it seems like small thing to give them pajamas, but this shows them that they aren’t doing this without help,” says McInnis. "“Often times these victims are leaving their situation with only the clothes that they are wearing."
