What's Gone and What's to Come

Several local hangouts have closed recently such as MKT Distillery, Battlehops Brewery, and ErmaRose Winery. However, there are some new businesses coming to Katy this year that Katyites will soon get to experience.

5345 E 3rd Street

The Katy Beer Garden will be The Dryer’s largest tenant when it opens next month. It will include 100 beer taps, a 100 bottle wine list, and a wide range of spirits and cocktails plus a small menu of bar food. While it won't be an actual brewery, we're counting it as more than a bar and made this list.

“The Katy Beer Garden inspiration came from Munich, Germany,” says The Dryer's developer Hadi (Andrew) Nurcahya. “However, it will be themed with Katy, TX décor and served with warm southern hospitality.”

The beer garden is in the final phases of construction and are even hiring. Follow the progress and get updates on their Facebook page and website. Learn more about what's coming to The Dryer in this Katy Magazine feature story.

22756 Westheimer Parkway

Voodoo Brewing Co. will open their second Texas location in Katy. The company is from Pennsylvania and is known for a wide range of craft beers and pub fare. They are growing their brand and pubs across the country.

"More than just beer. We always envisioned our brewery to be larger than the liquid. We wanted to combine beer with art, food, music and community, to create a space for everyone that couldn’t be easily replicated, and we thought Voodoo was a great word to capture that spirit," says Catriona Gomes with Voodoo Brewing Co.

Their Katy location will be located in the Villagio Center off of Westheimer Parkway and Peek Road. The brewpub is already planning to collaborate with local businesses to bring together community events. First up will be their beer run with Good Times Running Co. Learn more about the beer run and other upcoming plans on their Facebook page. They are opening soon.
