Katy Electrocution Incident Sends Victim to Hospital by LifeFlight

A person was electrocuted yesterday in Katy and flown via helicopter to a nearby hospital. The incident is believed to be the reason that some Katy residents experienced power outages yesterday in the north side of the city.

First responders from Harris County ESD 48 responded yesterday to a 911 call to the intersection of Porter Road and Avogadro Drive in the Treviso Gardens community. This occurred around 12:00 p.m. on March 2, 2026.

According to a release from HCESD 48, upon arrival the patient exhibited signs of injuries consistent of electrical exposure. Due to the severity of their condition, the patient was sent to a local hospital by LifeFlight.

No additional information has been released, but the incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of powerlines. HCESD 48 wants the public to know that electrical incidents can be extremely dangerous.

If you see a downed power line, stay at least 35 feet away.
You cannot tell that a power line is energized just by looking at it.
Do not touch someone who has had contact with a downed power line as the energy can transfer. Call 911.
Do not attempt to move a downed power line.
Stay away from water near a downed power line.
Do not drive over a downed power line.
