Katy ISD Increases Security After Four Students Injured in Knife-Fight at Local Park

Four Katy ISD students were injured in a fight at Beckendorff Park yesterday after school. Two students were sent to Memorial Hermann Hospital via Life Flight. Katy ISD will increase security in the area until the investigation of the fight is completed.




Deputies from Harris County Constable Ted Heap’s Office responded to a scene yesterday at Beckendorff Park in the 1800 block of Katyland Drive. Multiple victims were involved in a stabbing.



Two Students Life Flighted to Hospital

Four students were injured and two were taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Bats and knives were found at the scene.


Just after 3:00 p.m. yesterday a fight broke out at the park between several students who attend Paetow High School. Authorities reported that the fight was over two girls.

The other two injured students were taken to the hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.


The District released the following statement:


Katy ISD police and local law enforcement are actively investigating an altercation that took place at a Harris County park following school dismissal today. At this time, multiple students are believed to have been involved in the altercation. Campus and District administration are working closely with law enforcement to complete a thorough investigation. Anyone determined to have been involved in the incident will be disciplined in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline Management Plan, as well as be subject to any potential criminal consequences. Out of an abundance of caution additional Katy ISD police will also be assigned to patrol the area until the investigation has been completed.


This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Katy ISD police and now the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
