"I'd like to remind people to be extra cautious when driving through school zones, especially as kids are returning to school," says Constabe Terry Allbritton. "We are committed to protecting the safety of these school children and will be carefully watching and enforcing traffic safety laws around our Precinct 5 schools."

Constable Allbritton reminds all drivers that schools are back in session across Precinct 5. For the safety of our school children, please slow down and obey marked speed limits.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered she had 5 warrants for Class C violations. She was taken into custody on those warrants.

“We would like to remind all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to stay alert and use caution near school and busy routes,” said Katy ISD in a statement released yesterday. “Please also be aware that increased traffic may cause delays on some bus routes.”

The Katy community continues to see significant growth, which leads to heavier traffic in areas where road infrastructure is still being developed by county and state agencies. Katy ISD says that they are engaged in ongoing communications with local and state officials to address road and traffic concerns and continue to prioritize student safety, whether they are walking, biking, riding the bus or commuting my car.

The Katy ISD Police Department will continue to support traffic flow in school zones impacted by enrollment growth and roadwork. For families of eligible students, we encourage the use of District transportation services  such as the SMART Tag App, (available via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) which provides real-time school bus tracking. If you have questions about your child’s route, please contact smarttaghelp@katyisd.org.
