Katy ISD is the number 1 Houston area school district and the 13th in the State according to Niche’s 2022 Best Schools list. 25 Katy schools also ranked among the best in the area.
Katy ISD was ranked the number 1 school district in the Houston area out of 1,018 districts ranked in Texas.
“This recognition reflects the deep commitment of our staff and support of our local community to provide exceptional educational experiences to our more than 88,000 students,” says Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Schools.
14 Katy elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 3 high schools also made the list among the best schools in the Houston area.

Each year, Niche, a ranking and review organization for K-12 schools, assesses school districts from across the country. Rankings are based on a detailed analysis of key statistics, reviews from students and parents, and data from the U.S. Department of Education.
Factors that weight into the ranking include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more.
According to Niche’s National ranking, Katy ISD came in 275 out of 10,772 school districts across the U.S.
