Katy ISD Schools Rank Top in the State and Nation

Katy ISD is home to some of the best schools in the United States according to Niche. The District has long established itself as a leader in educational excellence, ranking as the number one District in Houston and the number one Large District in Texas.

Niche.com, the leader in education data and reviews released their 2026 school rankings. Many Katy ISD schools made the list and are considered some of the best in the Houston area, Texas, and the United States.
“Katy ISD educators and staff are consistently providing innovative and unparalleled learning experiences across our campuses,” says Katy ISD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski. “They are the best of the best, and that is reflected every day in our student performance, CTE certifications, college and military readiness, athletics, fine arts and more.”
Multiple campuses led the way in the Houston area, Texas and the United States according to the Niche rankings:
Seven Lakes High School is ranked No. 2 in the Houston area, No. 9 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.
McMeans Junior High School is ranked No. 2 in the Houston area, No. 25 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.
Griffin Elementary School is ranked No. 3 in the Houston area, No. 36 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.
Elementary Schools
Katy ISD has six schools ranked inside the Top 10 (60 percent) and 13 schools ranked in the Top 25 in the Houston area:

No. 5 Kilpatrick
No. 7 Randolph
No. 8 Davidson
No. 9 Stanley
No. 11 Wilson
No. 13 Shafer
No. 16 Alexander
No. 17 Pattison

Additional rankings include No. 27 Fielder, No. 32 Creech, No. 33 Exley, No. 38 Rylander, No. 46 Nottingham Country, No. 48 Katy and No. 49 Williams.

District middle schools comprise 70 percent of the Top 10 Best Middle Schools in the Houston area:
