Katy Students Can Earn their CDL
Katy ISD will start offering a new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program next fall in partnership with the District’s Raines Academy and Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Services LLC. The program will be available for rising 11th grade students turning 18 years old and interested in obtaining their CDL for a future career.
“With access to one of the world’s largest ports serving the region, the state of Texas and the United States, along with multiple warehouses in the Katy area, this program is an excellent opportunity for our students to explore this lucrative career locally,” says Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski.
According to the employment website Indeed, the average salary for a truck driver is $81,999 per year. The District will host CDL informational programs across its high school campuses this month.
